2. Basic Usage

Master Account Setup

  • Select only one account to send trading signals.
  • Click the Master button on that account's row.

Follower Account Setup

  • Check the Follower box for accounts that will receive signals.

Select Instrument & Start

  1. Select the trading instrument in the top Instrument Selector. (e.g., NQ 12-25)
    • *Note: You cannot start without selecting an instrument.*
  2. Once configured, click the top Start (ON) button.
  3. Acknowledge the warning message to begin copy trading.

3. Risk Management Settings (Important)

CopyProfit's most powerful feature is individual account risk management. You can set individual loss limits and profit targets for each account (Master & Follower).

  • ⚠️ All amounts are in the account's currency (usually USD).
  • ⚠️ If set to 0 or left empty, the function is disabled.

3.1 Unrealized Loss Limit

If the current unrealized loss of open positions reaches this limit, positions are closed immediately and follower copying for that account is detached. This is the "maximum loss allowed per trade."

[Example]

  • Setting: $500
  • Situation: After entry, price drops and unrealized loss reaches -$500.
  • Result: Positions for that account are closed at market price immediately, and follower copying is detached for that account.

3.2 Daily Loss Limit

If the Total PnL (Realized + Unrealized) for the day reaches this limit, all positions are closed. (Followers will be detached.)

    [Example]

  • Setting: -$1,000
  • Situation: $-300 loss in the morning, afternoon position hits $-700 unrealized loss. (Total $-1,000)
  • Result: Immediate closure and stop copying for that account.

3.3 Daily Profit Goal

If the Total PnL for the day reaches this target, profits are secured and trading stops. (Followers will be detached.)

  • Input Rule: 0 or Positive Numbers only.
  • Behavior: Close when Total PnL >= Setting.

[Example]

  • Setting: $2,000
  • Situation: Total PnL crosses $2,000 during trading.
  • Result: All positions closed (profit taken) and copy stopped for that account.

4. Risk Management Rules

CopyProfit has strict validation logic to prevent invalid risk settings.

Key Validation Rules

1. Must be greater/less than current PnL (Buffer $50)

  • Daily Loss Limit: Must be at least $50 lower than current Total PnL.

Ex: If current Total PnL is $-100, limit must be $-150 or lower.

  • Unrealized Loss Limit: Must be at least $50 lower than current unrealized PnL.
  • Daily Profit Goal: Must be at least $50 higher than current Total PnL.

Ex: If current Total PnL is $100, goal must be $150 or higher.

2. Minimum Defaults

  • Loss limit must be $-50 or lower, Profit goal $50 or higher (assuming 0 PnL).

Master Account Liquidation Warning

If the Master account hits a risk limit and closes, all connected Follower accounts are also closed for safety, and the engine stops.

Be aware: If both Master and Follower have settings, and the Master closes first due to a tighter limit, the Follower will also close regardless of its own limit.

5. Important Update: Position Sync Safety

Preventing Unintended Opposite Positions

If a Follower account has no open position, Master exit (close) orders are not copied to that Follower. This helps prevent unintended opposite positions from opening when the Follower is flat.

For example, if the Master is holding 3 Long positions and the Follower has no position, a Master sell order used to reduce or close those Long positions is not copied to the Follower account.

Things to Note (Opposite Position Possibility)

When the Master and Follower are no longer perfectly synchronized, the Follower can behave differently from what you may expect at first glance.

1. Position mismatch can change how copied orders behave

If the Follower is already out of sync, a new Master order may reduce the Follower's existing position instead of creating the same directional exposure as the Master.

  • Master: Flat (no position), Follower: 3 Long
  • Master opens 1 Short
  • Follower closes 1 Long (remaining 2 Long)

This is normal behavior based on CopyProfit's core logic of following the Master's trade flow from the Follower's current state.

2. Do not manually adjust a Follower while the engine is running

This is especially important when the Master uses an ATM strategy, because the Follower may still have working OCO orders tied to the copied position.

  • Master: Long 5, Follower: Long 5
  • User manually closes 4 contracts on the Follower
  • The Follower may still have remaining OCO stop/target orders working in the market
  • If one of those OCO orders later triggers, the Follower can end up in a different direction from the Master

In short, manual intervention on a Follower during live engine operation can produce unintended and confusing results.

Multi-Account Order Throughput Notice

In theory, there is no strict limit on the number of accounts.

However, when the total exceeds 20 accounts, NinjaTrader may not function properly in certain situations.

For example, with a 10-contract entry and an ATM strategy configured with 3 targets, this can generate 7 orders per account, so 20 accounts can submit about 140 orders at once.

In that case, broker policies (such as Tradovate or Rithmic limits) may throttle or block some orders.

Post-Update Recommendation

Before using this on a live account, test thoroughly on a Sim account with entry, exit, and manual close scenarios.
